Quality, a conscious choice

Materials are a fundamental part of every new Olivari door handle.

Each choice is guided by the search for the right balance between quality, performance, durability and the responsible use of resources. For this reason, Olivari selects materials capable of preserving their technical and aesthetic qualities over time, working with Italian companies that share the same commitment to material excellence and manufacturing quality.

CERTIFIED BRASS

Certified Brass

Brass has always been at the heart of Olivari's production. Every door handle is manufactured from certified brass, an alloy of copper and zinc selected for its outstanding mechanical properties, dimensional stability and full recyclability.

The combination of premium raw material, hot forging and precision machining produces components with a compact, homogeneous structure free from micro-porosity—an ideal base for high-performance surface treatments. This manufacturing approach contributes to the precision of every product and ensures finishes that remain uniform, durable and visually consistent over time.

MATERIAL INSERTS

Material Inserts

Olivari's material research extends beyond brass through the use of carefully selected materials chosen for their aesthetic, tactile and technical qualities. Ceramic, crystal, marble, wood and leather enrich selected collections, offering new design possibilities while preserving the principles of quality, durability and manufacturing precision that define every Olivari product.

Each material is selected and crafted in collaboration with highly specialised Italian partners, enhancing both its natural characteristics and the manufacturing expertise behind it.

Ceramic

Ceramic introduces a warm, tactile surface with exceptional colour stability. Resistant to UV radiation, chemicals and surface wear, it preserves both its appearance and performance over time.

Its technical properties, long service life and the possibility of being recovered as inert material at the end of its life cycle make ceramic an excellent choice for long-lasting architectural applications.

Crystal

Crystal explores the relationship between light and material, bringing depth, transparency and brilliance to the door handle. The inserts are produced in collaboration with a historic Italian glassmaker through high-precision manufacturing processes that ensure optical clarity, durability and aesthetic consistency.

A material capable of transforming a functional detail into a refined architectural feature.

Marble

The marble inserts are part of the Sinergie project, developed in partnership with Henraux, the historic Italian marble specialist.

The grips are crafted from carefully recovered offcuts originating from the production of large architectural and sculptural works, giving new purpose to valuable pieces of stone that would otherwise remain unused.

An approach that combines manufacturing excellence with the responsible use of natural resources.

Wood

Developed with Riva 1920 as part of the Sinergie project, these collections feature precious timbers such as Kauri, Olive Wood and Canaletto Walnut recovered from solid wood sections unsuitable for furniture production.

Materials that retain all of their intrinsic value while finding a new purpose within Olivari collections, following a circular approach that enhances every resource without compromising quality.

Leather

The collaboration with Poltrona Frau also originated within the Sinergie project and reflects the desire to enhance one of the finest natural materials: leather.

The inserts are crafted from carefully selected leather offcuts, transformed into refined grips that combine tactile comfort, elegance and long-lasting durability.

A project demonstrating how premium materials can be given a second life without compromising manufacturing excellence.

Nylon represents one of the most significant milestones in Olivari's material research. Introduced into the collection during the 1970s with the Boma handle, it opened new design possibilities thanks to its outstanding technical performance.

Lightweight, wear-resistant, dimensionally stable and pleasant to the touch, nylon provides excellent reliability even under intensive use.

It is also fully recyclable. During manufacturing, production offcuts are recovered and reintroduced into the production cycle, contributing to a more efficient use of resources.

A material choice that reflects Olivari's commitment to innovation and to manufacturing processes designed to reduce waste.
