CHELSEA
Jean Nouvel2013
M232B
Chelsea, designed by Jean Nouvel, is born from the desire to go beyond the traditional tubular geometry of the door handle. The project favours the senses: a soft, enveloping shape, modelled on the imprint of the hand, and a warm material that is pleasant to the touch. Made in fine ceramic, Chelsea becomes a strong, iconic and highly expressive sign, capable of turning the designer handle into a distinctive architectural element.

Chelsea Porcellana, 2013
Jean Nouvel rejects from the outset even a material like steel, because he wants the senses to guide its formal definition. He explains that he wants them to be stimulated by a soft, sensual shape, pleasant to the touch, and by a warm, almost soft material. Finally, he wants it to become a sign through colour.

Chelsea was born with these premises: it is moulded on the imprint of the hand that grasps it, and the grip is made of white ceramic or soft black rubber.
