Richard Sapper
Olivari Designers
Munich (DE), 1932-2015
Born in Stuttgart, Sapper studies economy and engineering and is then hired at the Mercedes Style Center, but he moves to Milan in 1958 to work in Gio Ponti’s Studio. Shortly thereafter he begins productive collaboration with Marco Zanuso and they design revolutionary electronic products such as the Doney(1962), Algol (1964), and Black (1970) televisions for Brionvega.

Sapper brings the accuracy of German engineering to Italian design: his most famous product, Artemide’s Tizio amp (1972) is proof.
